I was introduced to Graphic Design at a very young age. Growing up I got to watch my mom build her home Graphic Design business. My mom was a pioneer really – In the 80’s “working from home” was a novel idea. She was even featured in a local news paper! She had been working in a local print shop as a secretary. This gave her opportunities to learn about layout and type setting along the way. The home computer became more popular and affordable and she decided to start her own business. “Multi Business Services” got its start right in a spare room of her home.

Growing up I had a front row seat to what running a home business was like. I remember sticking labels on mass mailers over summer breaks. I borrowed her typewriter and copy machine to make my own Newspaper. When I reached high-school I needed some spending money so I started helping more officially. I filed papers and helped with basic accounting tasks.

Opportinity Knocks

After high school I married and was looking for a job to help put my husband through college. My mom offered to take me on full time and show me the ropes of graphic design. I jumped at the chance and spent the next few years doing hands-on learning and online courses. This allowed us to add website design to our offerings. The business also grew to add promotional and wedding videos and some other part time employee. We decided to change the name to “Design One Media Group”.

We worked as a team for over 15 years. When my husband and started a family I was able to bring my kids with me. They got to cuddle with grandma and play with grandpa while I worked. When my mom decided to retire I decided to take over. I chose a fresh name and branding, and thus “New Leaf Digital Design” was born. It was a fresh start and the start of a new chapter for me.

How its Going

Growing up watching my family put their blood sweat and tears into their businesses has built in me a passion for helping small businesses thrive. I enjoy helping them “Turn over a new leaf” and build consistent and unique branding. I know first hand how tough it is for small business owners. They have to wear so many hats to keep everything running smoothly. At New Leaf Digital Design, It’s my goal to remove at least one from the stack!
